About Dr. Karen Reivich
 

Karen Reivich, Ph.D. completed her psychology training at the University of Pennsylvania under Dr. Martin Seligman, with whom she co-authored The Optimistic Child (Harper Collins). Dr. Reivich is a Research Associate at the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Psychology, where she co-directs a grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to study the prevention of depression and promotion of resilience in school children. Dr. Reivich is also the co-director of the Penn Resiliency Project and an instructor in the Masters of Applied Positive Psychology program in which she teaches a course on Positive Psychology and Individuals.
Along with Dr. Andrew Shatté, Dr. Reivich co-authored The Resilience Factor (Broadway Books) that describes skills for increasing one’s resilience and improving overall productivity and mental health.

Dr. Reivich has conducted workshops and trainings for parents, educators, clinicians, and corporations throughout the US and internationally. Currently, her focus is on helping parents and educators promote well-being in children and adolescents. She is one of the lead authors of the Penn Resiliency Program for Adolescents and a parallel program for parents.

As a mother of four (including twins!) Dr. Reivich puts her work to practice every day.
